After a bit of a hiatus over the last few months, I found out just exactly how he’s been lately.
Here’s the lowdown:
At the end of May, Phil performed for an audience for the first time in four years.
His first performance included In The Air Tonight, which he hadn’t sung in over 9 Years, and Land of Confusion, which he last performed on the Turn It On Again Reunion tour in 2007.
In a 17 minute set, Phil appeared relaxed, happy, and healthy on stage with the music students of Miami Country Day School. With wit and humor, he carried on his usual banter with the audience, proving he hadn’t lost his touch on stage, despite it being well over a year since his last performance. And of course big props to the student band as well, who did a fantastic job accompanying Phil, especially, Nic Collins on drums – he slayed his father’s famous drum fill, proving once again, “like father-like son”.
Here’s the link for all to enjoy….
In other “Phil’s back in music news”, he recently finished writing and working in the studio with Adele. According to People magazine, mega-producer Ryan Tedder of One Republic fame, confirmed to MSN Music, “he’s returned to work…” Her new album is rumored to be titled 25 and is scheduled for release in early 2015. Tedder also commented in People magazine, “She will deliver the album on her own timetable, at her own pace…And the only person that will ever declare it finished will be her, when she decides it’s finished.”
Lee Sklar also announced recently that Phil has gotten his touring band back together for three weeks of rehearsals to see if a possible tour in 2015 would be feasible. Confirmed original members of the band include Daryl Stuermer, Brad Cole, Arnold McCuller, Lee Sklar, and Amy Keys. Unfortunately, Chester Thompson looks to be not available for these rehearsals, but is replaced by none other than Jason Bonham. Rehearsals started in Miami on August 16th. It is not known at this time if Phil plans to play drums or not yet.
These rehearsals also go hand in hand with his preparation for the Dreaming on the Beach Concert on December 6th to benefit The Little Dreams Foundation at The Filmore in Miami Beach, FL, United States. This is a wonderful opportunity to see Phil perform live for the first time in four years, as well as possibly mingle with him at the gala before the concert, and support a worthy cause. What’s not to love about this? Totally a win-win-win situation! 😀 Tickets for the concert only go on sale starting Sept. 12th. through TicketMaster by calling 1-800-745-8000. There will be only 2,100 seats available, however to guarantee a seat, sponsorships for the Gala are also available now through the Foundation.
And now in to the news about new music from Phil…
The only new music that I am aware of at this time, is the material he is working on with Adele for her album…which, I, for one, am looking forward to! 🙂
So I think that about covers everything for now…
Until Next Time, My Fellow Phil Fans…. 🙂
Oh, and there’s a new poll available to vote for Phil for the 2015 RRHOF Induction…be sure to vote for him under the Other category in both voting sections. 😉
